About me

Stationery hoarder.

Avid reader.

Terrible joke teller.

Katie Rickson

I’m here to partner with you. Together, we’ll communicate your story in a way that powerfully gets to the heart of what makes you and your business stand out.

I’ve been writing all my life in various forms, including poetry, essays, copywriting and technical writing. I believe in the power of words to make people think and feel; to challenge stereotypes and perceptions, and to inspire change.

Before launching my own copywriting business in late 2016, I worked at ASB (2007-2010) where I wrote personalised investment plans, and then as an administrator at a busy West Auckland church (2012 – 2016). I grew up in England before immigrating to New Zealand in 2005.

I’m a qualified writer, graduating from the University of Auckland with a Bachelor of Arts in Writing Studies and Drama.

Outside of work, you’ll find me dancing, reading, skulking around stationery shops, attempting to tell jokes but being the only one to laugh, or trying to keep up with my preschooler.

My mission:

To be the go-to copywriter for New Zealand social enterprises, not-for-profits and businesses that are committed to doing good things in their community. Helping real-life heroes who work for people, social justice, and the planet find, refine and use their best voice to inspire and motivate meaningful action in others.

My strengths:

  • Investigative research to grasp the complexities and nuances of your business;
  • Listening and understanding your needs and dreams for your business or project;
  • Working with you to create content that is up-to-date, inspiring and easy to understand;
  • Delivering high-quality work with exceptional attention to detail, a fair price and a reliable turnaround.
